WHAT'S NEW IN INES? No. 5/1997 Dateline: 3 August 1997 --- what's new in INES? --- what's new in INES? --- what's new in INES?--- Editor: Tobias Damjanov, Kreutzkamp 33, D-21465 Reinbek, Germany e-mail:

Note: Except as indicated, all web links are working as of 4 Aug. 1997; e-mail links are not verified.

Dear members and friends of INES, Again, this issue will be quite lengthy mainly due to the INES Council Meeting in Jurmala/Latvia which took place just a week ago, where some elements of INES communication were clarified: --- "What's New in INES?" will be emailed via INESnet every fortnight (and I'll do my best to put it out Mondays); in addition, it will also be emailed to non-subscribers of INESnet, and it will be faxed to all of those INES members who do not have access to means of electronic communication. Mailing and faxing will also include individual INES members --- As far as the contents and structure of "What's New in INES?" is concerned, you will find regular sections from now on, including an updated list of Web Sites and email addresses repeated in every issue --- There will be a close cooperation between "INES Newsletter" and "What's New in INES?" --- Every INES Project and INES member organisation should send a separate copy of its regular publication (newsletter, membership mailings, etc.) to Tobias Damjanov. Once checked for information suitable to be published in "What's New in INES?", these copies will be sent to the editor of the "INES Newsletter" to update him, as well (a separate letter addressed to all INES Projects and member organisations is to be sent out to highlight the importance of this member organisation feedback to INES communication) --- It is intended that the INES Web Site will be regularly updated, and it should include the possibility of linking with and subscribing to INESnet, of finding out about "What's New in INES?" and the "INES Newsletter", as well as to visiting directly (i.e. by hyperlinks) Web Sites of other INES Projects and member organisations. --- Internal INES information (eg minutes of meetings etc.) will be regularly disseminated via INESnet --- Last but not least, thanks to Kate Maloney from the SGR UK who is doing the proofreading of "What's New in INES?" Yours, Tobias Damjanov P.S.: The paper on "Strategies for INES Electronic Information Networking" I presented to the INES Council Meeting is available upon request. (It is too lengthy to include it in this issue.)
